Company C, 1/16th Mechanized Infantry was involved in two pacification programs during 1969. One involved the small village of Long Cau, which was north of Ben Cat about 1-2 kilometers, and west of Lai Khe about 4 kilometers. During several months of time, one or two platoons spent time at the village providing medical and other assistance.

During May and June 1969, re-opening of highways QL-14 and 311 from Phuoc Vinh to Phuoc Binh (Song Be), a distance of 25 - 30 miles, was considered one of major pacifications of the Vietnam War. The 1/16th Battalion provided security for Land Clearing Companies of the II Field Forces. During that time, new NDP's and FSB's named Remagen 1 - 20, were constructed every 8 days. This operation opened a road to Songe Be, from the south, that had been closed about 25 years.
